Robert Thomas Barnes

U.S. Veteran

Norfolk- Robert Barnes of the 3000 block of Tidewater Drive, passed away October 8, 2011 in his home, surrounded by family. Mr. Barnes a native of Opelousas, Louisiana graduated from Lincoln High school and completed a tour in the United States Navy. His academic accomplishments included completion of Dental Technician “A “school and a Norfolk State Graduate, cumlaude.

Mr. Barnes retired from the city of Portsmouth. He is survived by his wife, Myra Barnes; two daughters, Tracey McZeal of Corpus Christi, Texas and Tiffany Richmond of Port Arthur, Texas; two sons, Patrick and Robert Barnes Jr. of Port Arthur, Texas; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Patricia Richmond of Baltimore, Maryland and Constance Parker of Husoton, Texas; one brother, Joseph Parker of Port Arthur, Texas; stepmother, Zelma Barnes of Baltimore, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be held at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home located at 500 Liberty Street Chesapeake at 11:00 A.M. October 13, 2011. He will be buried at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5pm-7pm at the funeral home. All condolences and flowers will be received at the funeral home.
