Chesapeake - Alex Mahone, 83, of the 1200 block of Great Bridge Blvd., was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 15, 2007. Born in Cromona, Kentucky, he was employed over 30 years with Merchant Trucking Company until his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Crestwood where he served on the Usher Board, and a  member of Teamster Union 822. He also served in the United States Navy.



He is predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Mahone. Survivors include his wife Pauline E. Mahone of Chesapeake, one son, James Atkinson (Barbara) of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Kim Thomas (Duane) of Portsmouth, Karen Hill (Elvis) of Chesapeake, Keisha Johnson of Suffolk, Jameca Atkinson of Michigan, and Jameia Atkinson of Richmond, four great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.



A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Crestwood. Entombment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held 2pm - 7pm Friday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
