Chesapeake – Alma Ruffin Wood 93, of the 1000 block of Great Bridge Boulevard departed this life October 28, 2008. Born in Norfolk, she was a Teacher in the Chesapeake School System for over 40 years until her retirement. Mrs. Wood was a longtime member of New Hope United Church of Christ ,where she served on the Usher Board and the Hospitality Committee. She also held membership in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and the Moles Society Club

Mrs. Wood is predeceased by her husband, Clifton A. Wood Sr. She is survived by her son, Clifton A. Wood Jr. and wife Rhonda of Virginia Beach; three sisters-in-law, Geneva Ford of Portsmouth, Alberta Watson and Beatrice Thomas of Norfolk; a host of Godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
