Anna Maske Smith, 79, of the 1900 block of Robert Hall Blvd. , passed away peacefully in her home on June 12, 2008 . She was born in Bennettsville , South Carolina to the late Lemon and Hattie Lee Maske on February 28, 1929 . She was predeceased by her husband, Velmer " Whit Mo " Smith.

Left to cherish her memories is her three sisters, Helen Adams (Cletus) of Long Bird, NC, Daisy Ruth Lee of Polkton , NC and Hattie Mae Bennett of High Point , NC . She had four brothers, Holden Robinson and Douglas Maske both of Philadelphia, PA, Vernon Maske  and Priness Maske both of Polkton, NC; five children, Valerie Smith of Petersburg, Velmer "Kenny" Smith (Genna) of Chesapeake, Thelma Ingram (Jasper) of Chesapeake, Helen Smith (William) of Corpus Christie, TX,  and Robert Smith of Chesapeake; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Clara Mae Lloyd and Edith Smith; two brothers-in-law, Haywood Smith and James Smith, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. , Tuesday at the Kingdom Hall of  Jehovah's Witnesses, 2000 Myers Road , Chesapeake , VA 23324 . The repass will follow the service at the Indian River Community Center at 2250 Old Greenbrier Road in Chesapeake , VA 23325 . Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements.
