Armaza Lee
White
September 10, 1925 – September 12, 2022
Armaza White was born Armaza Parker, to James and Maner Parker, on September 10, 1925, in Ahoskie, North Carolina. She was the second oldest daughter of eighteen children. She was educated in Ahoskie school system, and later attended Norfolk State College night school. During her youth, she met and eventually married, Andrew White, who she called "Bob". They married on June 24, 1950, and moved to the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake. They both lived together on Partridge Ave until he passed away on July 8th, 1983. Armaza remained in the home there until she transitioned at Chesapeake Regional Hospital on September 12, 2022.
Into the marriage of Armaza and Andrew, came a daughter-Katrina, and a son-Andrew Jr. After staying home to raise the children, Armaza returned to work and began employment at B.M. Williams Elementary School in the dietetic department. She remained employed there until her retirement from Chesapeake Public Schools.
Armaza loved to sew, cook, read and watch television. She also loved the church that she and Andrew Sr, joined in the 1950's, First Baptist Church Campostella. In church, she sang soprano in the #2 choir for many years and was a loyal member all her adult life.
Armaza leaves to mourn her passing: a devoted and dedicated son- Andrew White, Jr of the home; a daughter-Katrina (Wallace)Love of Winston Salem, NC; her last remaining sibling, a sister-Evelyn Freeman of Dallas, Texas; a brother in law- Henian Edward Newsome of Maryland; two granddaughters- Raven White of Jacksonville Florida and Wandreia Easley of Norfolk, VA; a grandson- Wallace Love, Jr of Winston Salem, NC; special nieces and nephews- Gary Mitchell, Sharon Freeman, Tammy Burton, Sherry Bazemore, Dr. Marcus Newsome, Dr. Douglas Newsome, Sheila Newsome and Dr. Edward Newsome, Jr. In addition to these, her nurse, Debra and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that will miss her greatly. Armaza also leaves her loyal and compassionate friend of many years, Mr. Robert Griffin, who together, shared many occasions of cake, ice cream and television, which she enjoyed.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at First Baptist Church Campostella, 1510 Conoga Street, Norfolk, where vieiwng will be held from 5pm until 7pm. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in cahrge of arrangements.
