Deacon Arthur E. Mann was born and raised in Chuckatuck, Virginia. His family moved to Chesapeake, Virginia when he was very young. He worked for Norfolk and Beltline Railroads, and retired from Beltline Railroads after 30 years of loyal service. He was a proud and dedicated member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for 56 years. He served on the Deacon Board Ministry. Deacon Mann loved God and his family. He enjoyed telling stories of his life, and sharing his wisdom with others.
Deacon Mann is predeceased by his parents Annias Mann and Martha Mann, his wife Lena Mann, two sons, Manuel and Alvin, and his grandson Alvin Mann. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Evelyn Hicklin of Los Angeles, California, and Retired MSG Arthur Mann, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother, Annias Mann (Minnie); three sisters, Vernell White, Earline Mann, and Evelyn Sears (Willie), and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, Deacon Arthur E. Mann went home to be with the Lord with his daughter Evelyn, and son Arthur by his side.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at New Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Viewing will be held Friday from 5pm until 7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
