Norfolk – Barbara Delores Nichols Hill of the 5300 block of East Princess Road departed this life May 27, 2010. Born in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Elizabeth Nichols and the Bishop Arthur Lewis Harper. She retired due to sickness after over 20 years of working throughout the Hampton Roads area with persons of developmental disabilities. She has gone home to be with the Lord, and she will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Anderson and Curlie Eugene Anderson. She leaves behind two sons, Alexander Deville Hill of Richmond, and Rodney Terrell Hill of Norfolk; two daughters, Barbara Dales Smith of Phoenix , Arizona and Alicia Hill Creecy of Chesapeake; one brother, Mr. James Anderson (Alice Faye) of Portsmouth; two sisters, Hattie M. Anderson and Alice Razor Johnson of Norfolk; twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two aunts of Chesapeake, one uncle of Tennessee, two sisters-in-law, Loretta H. Foster and Constance Dozier of Norfolk, a special dear beloved friend and sister, Valencia Ballard, and a host of nieces,, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 pm at Mount Sinai United Holy Church, 2710 Columbus Avenue, Portsmouth 23704. Viewing will be held Monday from 2 pm – 5 pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
