Barbara "Lil Sis" Bembry Kennedy, 50, of the 800 block of Bainbridge Blvd., went home to be with the lord on Sunday, April 5, 2015.

Mrs. Kennedy was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir. She was a volunteer at Chesapeake Regional Hospital. She enjoyed riding the HRT.

Mrs. Kennedy is predeceased by her mother, Labora Stevenson, father David Stevenson, and husband Jesse Kennedy. She is survived by four children, Christopher Stevenson of Big Gap Stone, Virginia, Christina Stevenson and Judy Stevenson of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Jermaine Stevenson of Norfolk, Virginia; three brothers, David Stevenson of Chesapeake, Virginia, Solomon Stevenson of Indianapolis, , Indiana, and William Stevenson (Mattie) of Durham, North Carolina; two sisters, Elease Stevenson and Angela Howard (Brian) of Chesapeake, Virginia; seven grandchildren Shanifah Brothers, Lakeisha Stevenson, Alexis Phillips, Isiah Stevenson, Jamil Stevenson, Quadir Newsome, and Keionta Stevenson; one aunt, three uncles, and a host if nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held noon Saturday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home. Viewing will be held from 3-6pm Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
