Barbara Forbes Scarlett was called home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2016. Born in Norfolk, she was a graduate of Carver High School and Norfolk Technical Vocational, where she earned her Technical Diploma as a LPN in 1969. She was a dedicated nurse for over 40 years until she retired in 2009 after working at various hospitals and skilled nursing facilities in Maryland.

She is survived by her four children, James T. Forbes, Janet Lee Taylor, Matthew C. Scarlett, and Monique C. Scarlett; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Bagby and Ann Forbes; one aunt Virginia Sharp; cousins, John Finney and Doretha Finney, and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 4-7pm Wednesday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
