Virginia Beach – Bernard Lovess Brown was born June 9, 1923 in Hickory, Va. He answered his heavenly Father's call May 20, 2011 at Virginia Beach General Hospital. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Brown and a sister, Gladys B. Scott. Bernard will be missed by his loving wife, Barbara Sykes Brown, three devoted children, daughter, Dedra B. Wood, and two sons, Darryl and Mack Jacobs; a sister, Marie Patterson; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 25 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, from 3 to 5pm, and the wake will be held from 7 to 8pm at First Baptist Church, Berkley, Berkley Avenue, Norfolk. The homegoing service will be held at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Ludlow Street, Norfolk on Thursday, May 26 at 11am.
Interment will be at Albert G. Horton Veteran Cemetery in Suffolk. A repast will follow interment at First Baptist Church, Berkley in Norfolk. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in the name of Bernard Brown to the American Heart Association and/or the American Diabetes Association.
