Bertha Lee Minor was born on March 22, 1944, in Norfolk, VA. She passed away on November 1, 2023, in Goose Creek, South Carolina at the age of 79. Affectionately, she was known as "Mawn" and "Bee Bee" by her family and friends. A celebration of life will be conducted to honor Bertha's life at 11 a.m. on November 10, 2023, at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Roosevelt Memorial, Chesapeake, VA. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alonzo Nixon and Francis Spruill. Also, preceded in death by her sisters Elizabeth Mary "Sug" Harris, Edith Mae Christian, Deloris "SueAnn" Langston, Ernestine "Saffire" Nixon, brothers Alonzo "Junior" Nixon, Samuel Lee "BoBo" Nixon, James "Red" Nixon, son Benjamin Minor and daughter Francis Minor.

She is survived by her children, Janie Minor of Chesapeake, VA, Welford Minor of Chesapeake, VA, Eugene "Bay" Minor (Jackie) of Clarksville, TN; Hope Taylor of Goose Creek, South Carolina; Priscilla "Chelle" Turner (Clyde) of Chesapeake, VA and Dwight "Boo" Minor of Chesapeake, VA.

She is also survived by her sisters Mildred Bell, Betty Jean Mills, Margie Mae Nixon, Dorothy "Dee Dee" Harper, and brother Kevin "Sputnik" Nixon. 13 grandchildren Monica Minor, Kimberly Minor, Tron Porter, Jasmon Outar, Lavelle Davis, Deontre Minor, Tashea Minor Ronda Taylor, Chris Taylor, Jazon Minor, Beyonce Turner, Clarence Turner, Eugene Turner. 9 great-grandchildren Damon Minor, Rayshel Minor, Kaeon Minor, Anya Minor, Cleonte Mabry, Marques Minor, Emanie Minor, Resean Warren, Richard Warren Jr., and 8 great-great-grandchildren, Kaiden Harrison, Nathaniel Outar Jr., Jonathan Jordan Jr., Za'Mari Minor, Embry Minor, Nova Outar, Nasir Outar, and Amar Minor, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

A family viewing (immediate family only) will be held from 4 pm-5 pm and visitation for family and friends will be from 5 pm -7 pm on Thursday, November 9th, 2023, at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake, Virginia 23324.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
