Bessie R. Morris, 84, departed this life on September 28, 2024. She lived in the Deep Creek section of Chesapeake, VA, and passed away in the comfort of her home. She was a welder at the Ford plant in Norfolk, VA, for 20 plus years where she retired in 1999.

She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Bertha Lee Whitfield, and father, Joseph Earl Whitfield. She leaves to cherish her memory her five children, Joseph E. Whitfield (Vernestine), Michelle D. Johnson (Gregory), Regina A. Padmore, Antonio A. Wood, Crystal S. Wood and Oreo (fur baby); five grandchildren, Gary, LiPrice, Joseph, Elijah and Autum; ten great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and a host of family members and friends.

The viewing will be held from 5pm until 7pm on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home. The graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. There will be a luncheon following the interment at River Crest Community Center, 1001 River Walk Pkwy, Chesapeake.
