Obituary

Chesapeake- Deacon Bobbie W. McCann, 79, went home to be with the Lord, Monday May 20th. Bobbie was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Linwood and Rosa McCann. He was known for using his voice to up lift the name of the Lord; an emeritus member of the Voices of Norfolk. He was a member of New Hope C.C.C. church in Berkley. As a veteran of the US Army he served his country in the Korean War earning the Korean Service Medal W/2 bronze service stars, National Defense Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. He is a retiree of Norfolk Public Schools with 36 years of service.

He is survived by Phyllis O. McCann his devoted and loving wife of 56 years, and his three children, Carmelita R. Coleman, Damond D. McCann(Crystal), and Tyra O. McCann; seven grandchildren; Talita (Calvin), Jason, LaVonna, Maya, Nylah, Kayla, and Joshua; two great grandchildren, Serenna and Garrick, and many other caring family members.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28 at New Hope C.C.C. church in Berkley. Interment will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Viewing will be held Friday, May 24 from 3-7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6-7pm. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
