Brian Keith Deaton, age 64, affectionally known by family and friends as "Ping Pong", passed away quietly surrounded by loved ones on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, Virginia.

Ping was born in Norfolk, Va and educated in Norfolk Public Schools. He served a brief time in the US Army and was honorably discharged. Ping is most notably remembered by his calm demeanor, sense of humor and attitude that he's going to do it his way despite the opposition of many!

Ping is preceded in death by his parents Gervan Lee Deaton, Jr and Viola Marie (Sanderlin) Deaton, and his maternal grandmother, Lillie Whitehurst Sanderlin.

Ping leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Keith Riddick, Derrick L. Riddick, Sr, Antwan Michael William Wray, and a daughter Michelle McClease. His grandchildren; Keiasia and Da'Naysia Mitchell, Shikera Powell, Derrick L. Riddick, Jr., Pamela A. Riddick, Sapphire Smith, Anita Wright, Alyssa Wilson, Sanaa McClease, Kendrick McClease, Nasir Washington, Sincere Washington, and two great-grands, Keir and I'Ya Dream Mitchell. His siblings; Gervan L. Deaton, III (Acquanetta), Ruby E. Patterson (Eugene), Leola H. Hubbard (Edward), Margaret D. Rodgers (James), William N. Deaton, Sr (Lornea), and Vanessa D. Backus (Leonard) and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Arrangements are in the hands of Pretlow and Son's Funeral Home, 500 Liberty St., Chesapeake, VA, 23324 with visitation, Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 4-5pm. Please be mindful that due to Covid-19 restrictions, only 10 people are permitted in the building at a time.

Interment on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 11am at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery, 5310 Miller's Rd, Suffolk, Va. 23434.  Rev. Leonard N. Backus, Pastor, All Nations Christian Center - Loudoun,  Sterling, Virginia will officiate the service.  Only the immediate family will be allowed at the graveside service due to the Covid-19 restrictions of 20 people.  The graveside service will be livestreamed 11:00 am Wednesday, and available for future viewing at:
