Carlotta Brewer Grinage was called home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2015. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia on January 29, 1949. She was the third child of Marion and Oner Brewer.

Carlotta's 36 year career with the federal government allowed her to serve many agencies in a variety of positions in the human resources arena. She worked extensively with the Treasury Department and the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity. She was named an assistant responsible for managing the department's affirmative employment programs; special emphasis programs and White House initiatives. Following her retirement, she worked as an consultant to the federal government.

Carlotta was known for her sense of humor, her generosity, and her leadership skills. She worked tirelessly on projects designed to improve the work environment and served as mentor to many of her co-workers.

Carlotta was also known for her openness and acceptance of people of all cultures. She traveled to 6 of the 7 continents and was truly a citizen of the world. All who knew her can attest to the fact that her family was the most important thing in her life. She loved and supported each family member unconditionally.
She is predeceased by her brothers, Oner Brewer Jr. and Orlando Brewer, her father, Oner Brewer Sr., and her nephew Devon Avery Manifold.

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Marion Brewer, a sister, Demetria Manifold (Roderick); nieces, Nadia Manifold, Lisa Lowe and Natalie Brewer; nephews Devon and Nigel Manifold; uncles, Gerald (Ann) and Alfred Jones, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at New Central Baptist. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Pretlow and Sons Funeral, Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
