Obituary

To every beginning there is an end, and to every moment in time there is a change. God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hardest to climb. God closed her living eyes and whispered..."Peace Be Thine"

"If anybody ask you who I am, just tell them that I am a child of God" (Carolyn Williams).

Carolyn Williams was born to the late Rev Cornelius and Deaconess Annie Vaughan, on August 1,1960. She is predeceased by her loving sister and best friend, Brenda Vaughan Byers.

Carolyn is a native of Berkley and a graduate of Lake Taylor High School. She married her long-time friend Deacon Tommy Williams. Together they raised a family of three daughters, one son and are the proud grandparents of 3 beautiful granddaughters and 3 handsome grandsons.

Carolyn accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the tender age of 18. She served as a member of the Youth Choir at St. Mark United Church of Christ, under the leadership of the late Dr. D. P. Butts.

As Carolyn matured in her call to Jesus Christ, she began accepting the assignments to share the word of God at various places. Under the leadership of Evangelist Brenda Byers, she became a strong witness for Jesus Christ. Together they were a dynamite team for the Lord. Wherever they went they shared the love of Jesus with whoever God put in their path. This led to Carolyn being a motherlike person to many. She would often spend hours on the phone or face to face, ministering to people who needed to see there was another way. Later in life after the passing of her best friend and sister, (Evangelist Brenda Byers) she met Chief Apostle, Dr Adrienne M. Lee. Under her leadership, Carolyn became a licensed minister. Most recently, she served under Pastor Felicia Hasty, of First New Kindling Church; A Church sharing the love of Jesus Christ. The Perfect Church, for imperfect people, serving a perfect God.

Minister Williams was a servant at heart. It showed wherever she went and worked. While driving for Norfolk Public Schools, where she proudly serving her LT Titan community, she was not only a driver but a mentor and friend. Carolyn was also able to work together with her family. At SPSA Waste Management, she worked with the love of her life, Tommy Williams. At 5 Star Medical Transport, she worked with her daughter Latesha. At the Talbert Assisted Living and the Waterford at Virginia Beach, she worked with her daughter Porscha Williams. While there she not only cooked for her residents, but she also served as an off-duty companion, personal shopper, and would even just hold hands with those who just needed a friend. Lastly, Carolyn worked at the Marriott Downtown Norfolk, where she shared recipes, talents, her love for God, and her heart with those who worked there. She has touched countless lives and led many people to Jesus Christ. She was so much of a servant that she never had to tell people that she was a minister, her heart and efforts showed it. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

On top of all that Carolyn has done, her first love was her family. She was our rock! Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunty Mom, Prayer Warrior, Advisor, Coach, Confidant, Protector, Best Friend, and more!

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Tommy L. Williams Jr., three daughters, Erica Simon (Calvin), Latesha Williams, and Porscha Williams (Atira). One son, her baby, whom she deeply loved, Eric Williams and a special nephew/son, Timothy D. Vaughan (Alicia). Six grandchildren, Monshae Simon, Keira Parker, Monica Simon, Marcus Parker, Montell Simon, and Malik Riley. Siblings- Mary Russell, Doretha Wilson (James), Annie Shaw, Robert Vaughan (Robin), Willie Vaughan (Judy), Arthur Vaughan (Yolanda),Timothy Vaughan, and Oliver Vaughan (Brigette), and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends
