Norfolk - Castine Marie Clemons, 90, affectionately called "CC" departed this life on September 7, 2012. Born in Winsor, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Mable Smallwood. She was employed as a nanny for 45 years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the female usher board for 30 years.
She is predeceased by her husband, William A. Clemons, grandson, James Smallwood, daughter, Shirley Skinner and her husband, Rayfield Skinner, and her brother, Leon Simpson. Survivors include her granddaughter, Mable Smallwood; two great granddaughters, Antoinette Perez and Natasha Gunn; one great grandson, Earl Neighbors; five great-great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, and a host of relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held noon Friday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held 3-7 pm Thursday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
