Catherine Smith Harris was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 4, 2020. She was born on May 6, 1928 in Bells Mill, Virginia. She completed her life's journey at her home in Chesapeake, Virginia at the age of 92.

For years she worked at DePaul Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, retiring as a delivery room technician at the age of 70.

She touched many lives and was always kind and loving, with a big heart. Family was always important to her, and family visits and gatherings always brought her much joy. She was always honest and hardworking, expressing the importance of education to all of her family. We are blessed to have countless fun memories of her, and she will always have a special place in our hearts. We will never forget the sacrifices and accomplishments she made in her life.

With loving names, we called you, Momsie, Mommy, Momma, Grandma, and Great Grandma. We can never say thank you enough for all that you have done for us and the everlasting impact you left upon all of the lives you touched. We come together to celebrate and honor your extraordinary life. Please relax and enjoy paradise. Let God take care of you now. Yes, we miss you, but you are now at your new home in heaven.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Ray Harris, and two sons, Ray B. Jr., and Dennis. She leaves behind to cherish her memories four children: Phillip  (Diane), Sterling, Virginia, Bobby (Patrice), Severn, Maryland, Catherine Denise, Chula Vista, California and Christine (aka Chelle), Chesapeake, Virginia; ten grandchildren: Catina, Jason, Crystal, Carl (Kayliah), Darriel (Sylvia), Chastity, Cobrin, Christopher, Christein and Faith; and eight great grandchildren; Naya, Robinson, Isaiah, Anneka, Zayda, Zanyiah, Amina, and Imani.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22, at 11:00 am at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake, Virginia 23324. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake.
