Obituary

Cecelia Addie Reid, affectionately known as CeCe, was born on February 8, 1938, to the late Charlie Reid Sr. and Essie Lee Reid. Cecelia was one of 8 children.

She loved her church family.  She was a member of the Senior Choir, and she attended weekly bible study and all revivals or anniversaries. You would see her with her lovely niece and sidekick, Irene Turner, at every event for Mount Sinai. Cecelia was a serious sports fan. If you need a recap of a game, scores, trades before the trade deadlines, or any updates for ALL sports, she was your girl.  Without question, she would ensure the Chiefs' No.1 fan was only a TV screen away. She loved trivia and games and was intrigued to learn new things. Cecilia was a brilliant lady! Undeniably, she loved her family.  She believed God had blessed her, and ALL her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren could and would easily accomplish anything. She believed their dreams were attainable and that all dreams would become a reality with Christ first and hard work. Cecelia was a woman after God's own heart. Upon meeting her, you would notice that her spirit was breathtaking, and you wanted to remain in her presence. She would tell you that it is Christ that lives within her. She lived a life so pleasing to Christ. More than anything, she wanted everyone to experience the love of Christ and desired that we all get to know Him. Today, she would want us to seek Christ, wipe those tears, love one another, and celebrate her life. She would end by quoting 2 Timothy 4:7~ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Cecelia is predeceased by her fantastic husband, Wendell Reid Sr.; remarkable son, Vernon (Linda); four brothers, Joe Seafors, Herbert, Charlie, and James; and two sisters, Daisy and Shirley Turner.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory three daughters, Glenda Flood (Anthony), Sharon Fonden (Micheal Williams), and Deirdre Williams (Clarence); four sons, John, Dedric (Ebony), Larome (Stacy), and Von. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Williams; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Seeberry and Dorothy Reid; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thank you to her caring, supportive extended family and angels on earth, Lynette Sanderson, LaTonya Sanderson, and a special niece, Trina Norfleet, who checked on her often, and together they recapped sports scores.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 6421 Providence Road, Virginia Beach. Viewing will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 3pm until 5pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
