Chesapeake - Celia Campbell, 84, of the 800 block of Windward Place was called home to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 27, 2008. Born February 20, 1924 in Norfolk, County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Person. One of sixteen children, she is predeceased by thirteen siblings. She was married to the late Luther Campbell, Sr.,  and from this union they were blessed with four children. Her son, Luther Campbell, Jr., preceded her in death.



Sister Campbell was a longtime member of New Galilee Baptist Church, where she was an active and dedicated member of the Usher Board, servicing the Lord in this capacity for over 35 years.



Sister Campbell is survived by three daughters,  Dorothy Naylor and Rose Cowell of Chesapeake, and Earline Munden of Norfolk; two sisters, Percolia Gorham and Goldie Mae Person; seventeen grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren, twenty-eight great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins  and friends.



A funeral service will be held noon Wednesday at New Galilee Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 2pm - 7 pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
