Norfolk- Clarence C. Mayo, Sr., 79, born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, April 16, 1927, went home to be with his Lord on December 16, 2006. He passed at Norfolk General Hospital.
He was predeceased by his wife Mildred Butler Mayo, and he leaves behind to cherish his memory, four daughters, Jeanneatha Nixon (Kwasi Imhotep), Dorothy Evans, Diann Eugenia Mayo, and Rosalyn Giddens (Jack); three sons, Clarence L. Mayo, Jr. (Ellen), Kirk Mayo and Rodney T. Mayo (Dana); one sister, Verna Troutman; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; a special Goddaughter, Linda Melvin, and a special God- grandson, Tony Melvin
A funeral service will be held Thursday at noon at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Berkley, where the body will be viewed from 10 a.m. until noon the day of the service. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. Viewing will be held Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6pm
to 7p.m.
