Our mother, Clarice Holland Owens entered into eternal life with the Lord on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 8:35pm in Nashville, NC surrounded by family.

Born December 4, 1941 in Norfolk, VA, "Chubby" as she was affectionately known was the middle child of Mabel Elouise and James Alexander Owens. She was educated in Norfolk Public Schools and attended Norfolk State University.

Clarice was employed by Bell South in California, and C&P Telephone Company later known as Verizon, where she retired after 27 years of service. In her free time Clarice enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, gardening, cross-stitching, volunteering for Virginia Beach Courts and participating in church activities where she was a former member at St. Thomas AME Zion Church in Norfolk, VA. She later enjoyed attending church services at New Life Church in Virginia Beach.

Left to cherish the memorable moments of her life are her two daughters, Michele J. Betts and Ronnie (Spouse), Shawn F. Tasch and Michael (Spouse), her brother, James A. Owens Jr. grand-children, Danielle Garrick and Mark (Spouse), Ashley Morris, William Hinton, Maya Hinton, PFC 1st class Ronald Blackwell, eight great grandkids and a host of close family and friends.

Clarice is predeceased by her parents James and Mabel Owens and her sister Muriel "Bunny" Brothers.

Viewing will be held, Thursday, June 13th from 5:00-7:00pm  at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake. Services will be held at the funeral home, Friday, June 14th at 11:00 a.m. A repast will follow the service at the residence.
