Obituary

Our Clementine D. Hockaday slept peacefully as God quietly removed her from her pain, the troubles of the world and our lives on Saturday, July 6, 2024. She was much loved as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and great aunt. There will forever be a void in our lives and she will be missed tremendously.

Clementine was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She was later employed by Be-Lo supermarket for thirty-two years.

Clementine married Russell B. Hockaday in 1979. His daughters became her daughters and her son, his son. Clementine and Russell affectionately called each other "LOVE". She loved to cook and baked pound cakes for birthdays. Clem enjoyed every lottery game or as she would often say, "I gotta go play my numbers". She loved family gatherings, as well as visits from the grands and great grands. Additionally, she loved eating homemade yock-a-mien, crabs and playing Pokeno and cards.

Clementine is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Clementine Wright Patterson, husband, Russell B. Hockaday and two brothers Roland and Eugene Patterson. Left with a legacy of love for her, is son Orlando Dalton, daughters Sharon Hockaday Wilson (Ronald), Roslyn Hockaday Lewis (Steven), Carolyn Hockaday Johnson, brother Burrell Patterson, sisters Yolanda Patterson, Debra Patterson Ware (Mitchell), sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren along with other relatives and friends.

Services are private. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements.
