Chesapeake – Collie Cooper Jr., 82, of the 2800 block of Candlewood Circle, departed this life August 12, 2009. Born in Windsor, North Carolina, he was employed with Norfolk Public School System until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge.

He is predeceased by his wife, Lelia Cooper. Survivors include two daughters, Catherine C. Lessane (Herbert) of Virginia Beach, and Dorothy Wilson (Alphonse) of Maryland; two sons, Ronnie Cooper (Gene) of Elizabeth City, NC and Kenneth Cooper of Chesapeake; five stepchildren, Arnetta E. Brown, Larry Goode Jr., and Karen Goode of Chesapeake, Janice Goode of Maryland and Charles Goode of Oregon; four sisters, two brothers, twenty grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, one aunt, Elsie Mourning and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Providence United Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held 2pm – 7 pm Tuesday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
