Obituary



Chesapeake - Colon Freeman, 75, of the 1800 block of Martin Avenue was called home to be with the Lord January 23, 2008. Born  June 20, 1932 in Norfolk, Virginia, he was the son of the late Solomon and Leana Freeman. He was employed with Sentara Norfolk General for over 39 years until his retirement.



He is survived by his two daughters, Glenda Willard and Marion Brazell; one son, Kelvin Smith; one sister, Catherine Purvis of Norfolk; two brothers, Junious Freeman of Norfolk and Linwood Freeman of Chesapeake; a special and devoted brother-in-law, Cornelius Purvis; a special nephew,  Hamilton Lane; four grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister, Ida Bell Calvin and his favorite nephew,  Elijah Lane.





A funeral service will be held noon Wednesday in the chapel of Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held 2pm -7pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
