IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cynthia L.
Cuffee
September 5, 1947 – February 4, 2024
On Sunday, February 4, 2024, our beloved Cynthia L. Cuffee, was called home to be with the Lord. Cynthia was born on September 5, 1947, in Norfolk, Virginia to Odell and Alva Black. She graduated from George Washington Carver High School, in Chesapeake, VA.
Cynthia was employed by Chesapeake General Hospital where she worked with Nutrition and Food Services. She enjoyed a long and successful career and fondly recalled the many patients, family and friends who crossed her path.
Cynthia loved cooking and enjoyed her time with family and friends where she was guaranteed to bring a good joke and laughter. She was known for her excellent macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and chitterlings. She could be counted on during the holidays to whip up her renowned specialties to those who asked. One of her favorite pastimes was going out on the ice cream truck with her late husband, where she brought smiles throughout the Chesapeake community. She was a loving mother and wife who took every opportunity to share her wisdom with her family. God blessed her with a keen wit that she freely shared with anyone fortunate enough to know her.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, Odell Black, her husband Earlie Cuffee, her son, Tyrone Cuffee, and her daughter Shawna S. Cuffee. She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother Alva F. Black, her sons Eric G. Cuffee and Kevin J. Cuffee, her granddaughter, Akira J.N. Brown, her sister and best friend Earlene L. Simmons (Sammie), her brother, Carlton M. Black (Wilhelmina), her nieces Taquisa K. Simmons and Masie Black, and nephew Lavelle Simmons, mother-in-law, Annie M. Cuffee, and sister-in-law, Hazel M. Cuffee, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
