Chesapeake - Daisy Mae Garland of the 1000 block of River Birch Ct departed this life March 1, 2008. Born in Norfolk, she was employed in the medical field as a phlebotomist for 30 years until her retirement. She was a member of Agape Full Gospel Church, where she was a Deaconess and Mother of the church.



She is predeceased by her husband, James R. Garland. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Smith-Watson of Chesapeake; three sons, Turan C. Lee (Edith) of Camden, NJ, James A. Smith VI (Victoria) of Holly Springs, NC and Donald L. Smith of Petersburg, VA; five grandchildren, Nadia, Branden, Micah, Judah, Arielle; one great grandchild, Jubilee, two aunts, a host of  relatives and friends.



A funeral service will be held 12:30 pm Saturday at New Hope United Church of Christ, 145 E Liberty Street, Norfolk. Viewing will be held Friday from 3pm - 7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake where the family will receive friends from 5pm - 7pm.
