IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Debra Vincent
Edmonds
April 21, 1953 – April 30, 2022
On Saturday, April 30, 2022 Debra Aundrea Vincent Edmonds was granted eternal rest. Debra Edmonds (Debbie as she was called), was born April 21, 1953 in Chesapeake, Virginia, but was currently residing in Portsmouth, Va.
Debra grew up in the Chesapeake area and was raised as a member of New Galilee Baptist Church. She most recently joined in worship and fellowship with Mount Hermon Baptist Temple in Portsmouth, Virginia. Debra was a graduate of Crestwood High School. She graduated from Norfolk State University majoring in Social Work. She worked full time for Norfolk Social Services for over 20 years before retiring. She worked with Isle of Wright County as a Social Worker for several years after. Debra was an avid reader, enjoyed a good meal, and loved sports. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys football fan all her life!
Debra cherished her family and would do all she could to help. The true Love of her Life was her only child, her son Richard Nathaniel Edmonds. Whenever she spoke with her friends and family she would always have an encouraging word and the conversation would end with either "Love you, or God is Good". As her health began to fade and she didn't get out much regardless of what she was going through, she never complained!
Debra was predeceased in death by her parents Geneva Vincent and Arlee Vincent Sr.; her brother Arlee Vincent Jr (Carolyn), and both maternal (Ruth Ferebee) and paternal (Minnie Vincent) grandparents.
She leaves behind to celebrate her memories her son Richard Nathaniel Edmonds, sister Betty Brown-Clemons of Chesapeake, sister-in-law Carolyn Vincent of Portsmouth, dearest friend for forty years, Essie Thornton of Portsmouth, step-mother Jocelyn Vincent of Chesapeake, one nephew Henrico "RJ" Brown, Jr of Virginia Beach, two nieces- Adrian Vincent of Portsmouth and Krystal Brown of Chesapeake, two great-nieces, one great nephew and a host of aunts, cousins, and relatives.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 5pm until 7pm Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the funeral home.
