Norfolk - On June 10, 2014, Delois Billups, 77, was called to her final resting place.

Delois, "Lois" or "Dee" as she was affectionately called by relatives and friends, began this journey on April 4, 1937. Born in Norfolk, she received her education in the Norfolk Public Schools. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1955.

Delois received the Lord and became a member of New Calvary Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Rev. Samuel Wilson. As a member, Delois participated in the youth choir, BTU and vacation bible school. In later years she was an active member in the Aids Ministry.

Delois worked in the food industry during her career. Among the places of employment were Century Spillway Bowling Alley, Krispy Kreme Donuts and Farm Fresh where she retired in 2002.

She is predeceased by her mother, Ms. Bertha Billups, two sisters Mrs. Bernice B. Jackson and Mrs. Florine Jones and two brothers Alvin B. "Old Tymer" Billups and Norman "Red Eye" Billups, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories her only child Sharon Billups Osborne (Greg) of Hampton, one sister Odessa "Dessa" Billups of Norfolk, Virginia, three nieces Lorelei Renay Morarity, Alence Whitaker, and Tawana Adams, four nephews Thomas Jackson(Alma) , Elton Gross, Norman Billups, Jr (Lisa) and Mitch Billups (Celeste) ), a host of great and great great nieces and nephews, the "Crew" Marlene Smith, childhood friend, Bernice Simon Warren and Barbara Williams, Beulah Bland, Dorothy Rattler, cousins, relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at New Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 12-5pm Sunday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.pretlowansons.com.
