On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, our beloved Deloys Robinson peacefully and quietly went home to be with the Lord. She was a devoted wife (52 years), grandmother, mother, sister, auntie, and friend. Her life was full of love, laughter, eating, shopping, and serving others.

Loys, as she was fondly called, was born in Norfolk County, now Chesapeake, Virginia on February 17, 1942, to the late Rozelia Sutton whom she fondly called “Mother” and the late Lafayette Mitchell. Rozelia later married Gidwood W. Sutton Sr., and he became her “Pop”.

She joined and was baptized at the New Willow Grove Baptist Church by the late Reverend Henry Godfrey. In 1955, at the age of 13, Loys moved to New York with her uncle and aunt, the late Levi and Floria Powell. She became a big sister to Marilyn Carroll, Roselyn Leslie (Peter), Carolyn Rivers, Gwendolyn Hillard and Jacquelyn Bendele (Daquan). She was known to them as “Sissy”. While living in New York, she continued her walk with God and became a faithful member of Second Providence Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Phillip Johnson. She served as a member of the Youth and Inspirational Choirs. She was employed as a book binder alongside her uncle Lee.

Loys met her devoted husband, the late Mr. Earlie Robinson, Jr, and they were married on June 23, 1974. In 1993, they returned to Virginia where she re-established her membership at the New Willow Grove Baptist Church where she served in the Choir and Women’s Ministry.

Loys was employed with the Chesapeake Public School for over 10 years before retiring. She enjoyed her time after retirement by becoming a member of the Golden Age Club until her health declined.

She leaves to cherish loving memories; daughters, Renie Smith and Valerie Hutchenson (Courtney); sons, Ernest Mingo (Sheila) and Edward Robinson; sisters, Hattie Jones, DiAnn Branch (Charles), Jacqueline Sutton, Deloris Jones and Rosalee Bunnell; brothers, Gidwood W. Sutton Jr. (Gloria), Anthony Sutton, and Kenneth Sutton (Shelia); six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; Godson, Kevin Jones; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
