September 11, 1965 – March 17, 2023
On March 17, 2023, God called home an angel, Denise Jeannette Cooper. She fought the good fight of faith and endured until the end. She was an inspiration to many while caring for others as she struggled through her most difficult times.
Denise, affectionally known as Neet by family and friends, was educated in the Chesapeake School System. She attended Tidewater Community College where she earned her degree in Respiratory Therapy. She was a licensed Phlebotomist and licensed Medical Coder-Biller.
Denise had a love for caring for others in their time of need. She had a heart of gold and was so resilient. She weathered the storms of life with such grace and tenacity.
She is preceded in death by her mother Edith L. Cooper, her brother Gary R. Cooper, and her grandparents Willie Roy Cooper and Katie Cooper.
She leaves to mourn her daughter Donisha Stokes (Sean Stokes), sister Gwendolyn Maddox (John Maddox, Jr), three grandchildren, Keimeon Debrow, Keiosha Debrow and Sean Stokes, Jr.; three nieces, Jazmine, Jonna and Jada Maddox, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
A funeral service wiil be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2023, at First Church of South Norfolk, 1605 Bainbridge Blvd, Chesapeake. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements.
