Obituary

Mr. Donald E. McCoy was called by God and entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Donald was born on February 6, 1963, in Norfolk, Virginia. He grew up in the Wilmund Place section of Chesapeake, Virginia and graduated from Indian River High School.

Donald was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan who had many interests. In his earlier years he volunteered his time to coach girls' softball. Donald enjoyed the silly moments he spent laughing and joking with family and friends. He also loved listening to music and caring for his many pets. Donald took pride in keeping his vehicles clean and he loved to go crabbing at the Great Bridge Locks Park.

Donald was a very dedicated and hard worker who enjoyed an extensive career in retail management working for several companies, most notably Winn-Dixie, Food Lion, and Frito-Lay.

He later joined Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church where he gave his life to Christ and began serving the Lord. Donald served on the male usher board, was a member of the male choir, and served as a Trustee, before holding his final position serving the Lord as Steward Donald McCoy, Chairman of the Fellowship of Trustees.

Donald was predeceased by his loving and caring mother Barbara C. Jenkins and his brother Clarence Jenkins, Jr. Those left to cherish his memory are his fiancé, Joyce Hood; his son Marque Cuffee, and wife Jodi of Suffolk, VA; two brothers: Gregory McCoy, Sr., and wife Gayla of Orlando, FL, and Reginald McCoy, Sr., and wife Renee of Chesapeake, VA.; three sisters: Cassandra Armstrong and husband Micheal, Anita Moyler and husband Benny, of Chesapeake, VA, and Barbara Ann Jenkins of Elizabeth City, NC; a host of nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Marvin.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 29, 2023, at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, Chesapeake. The family will receive relatives and friends at the viewing from 3 pm until 5 pm on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake.
