Doris McCoy. Bellamy was born in Princess Anne County, VA on March 3, 1938 to the late Leonard E. McCoy Sr. and Devetta (Katie) Eure McCoy.

Doris graduated from Princess Anne Training School in Princess Anne County, VA. From there, she attended Norfolk State College, receiving a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Education. Additionally, she received her Masters of Education degree from Old Dominion University. While at Norfolk State, she met and married her lifelong companion, James E. Bellamy, Sr.

Doris was a faithful member of New Light Baptist Church of Virginia Beach, VA., where she served as the Sunday School Secretary and later as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Doris was a Chesapeake Public School teacher for over 30 years. She was a member of the Norfolk State University Alumni and served as a volunteer at Chesapeake Regional Hospital until her illness.

Doris is pre- deceased by her husband James E. Bellamy Sr. and is survived by her son James E Bellamy, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA; daughters- Lisa Bellamy Vernon (Leo) and Leslie B. Bellamy both of Chesapeake VA; grandson Nicholas Alexander Bellamy of Chesapeake, VA; sister, Jean McCoy Taylor, of Chesapeake, VA; brothers, Leonard McCoy, Jr., Kenneth D. McCoy both of Chesapeake, VA ; and Michael E McCoy of VA Beach, VA; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2019 at New Light Full Gospel Baptist Church, 5349 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be 5-7pm Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake,
