Joyner
August 26, 1948 – December 22, 2021
Earl Timothy Joyner of Clinton, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2021 in his home of 29 years. He was born on August 26, 1948, at Portsmouth Naval hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia to Elias Earl Joyner of Greenville, NC, and Erline Virginia Manson Joyner of Henderson, NC. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Eric Joyner.
Earl attended Norfolk Public Schools in Norfolk, Virginia, where he graduated from Maury High School in 1968, and met his high school sweetheart, and wife of 52 years, Mrs. Annette Lee Monroe Joyner. In the same year he was drafted into the United States Air Force, where he attended tech school at Lackland Air Force Base. He was then sent to Goldsboro, NC for his
first duty assignment. In 1970 Earl served in Thailand as air support maintenance for the war in Vietnam. From 1971 to 1972, he served at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas. In 1972 he had his first son, Earl Timothy Joyner, Jr. From 1972 to 1976, Earl was stationed at Langley Air Force Base. From 1976 to 1979, he was stationed in Bitburg Germany at Spangdahlem Air Force Base, and this is where his second son, Stefan Anton Joyner was born on August 24, 1978. Earl went on to serve at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia for a second tour of duty from 1980 to 1989. While he served at Langley, his career adviser for the 48th Fighter Interceptor Squadron played a major role in the William Tell Flying Competition. In 1989 Earl obtained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant and graduated with honors from Emary Riddle University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. From 1989 to 1998 Earl was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base, where he was the superintendent of maintenance of the 89 th , and he finished his military career. In 1998 he retired from the Air Force and accepted a position with DynCorp International as the Maintenance Branch Manager, Andrews Division. In 2017, Earl retired from DynCorp International.
After retirement Earl enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, listening to jazz, cooking on the grill, watching Netflix, and gardening in the backyard. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and enjoyed going to church on Sunday.
Earl leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Annette Lee Monroe Joyner, his mother Mrs. Erline Virginia Manson Joyner, brother, Emmit B Joyner, two sons, Earl T, and Stefan A Joyner, nephew, Sean Joyner, niece ,Erica Gandsy, daughter- in- law, Crystal Moore Joyner, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
We know he's gone home to be with the Lord, resting in the arms of the Jesus, having no more sickness, pain, or sorrow. We loved him dearly, and we know he loved us.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, January 5, 2021 at New First Baptist Church Taylorsville. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Vewing will be from 5pm until 7pm Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home.
