Norfolk - Edward Joseph Lawrimore Jr., passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2015. Born in Salem, New Jersey, he was a graduate of Crestwood High School class of 1969 and attended Norfolk State University. He was an employee of Sentara Norfolk General Warehouse for 10 yrs. and was employed with STOP Head Start Program for 16 years until his illness.
Edward was preceded in death by his father, Edward Joseph Lawrimore Sr., mother, Pennie L. Lawrimore, and sister, Mattie Mae Lawrimore Hopkins. Survivors include his daughter, Jacquelin Abogi of Charlotte, NC; three brothers, Larry, Jerry (Johnie) and Michael, all of Chesapeake, VA. One sister, Dorothy Lawrimore of Vienna, VA; two aunts, Pauline Smith and Emma Nixon; Sheryl Brown, his beloved companion of 22 years; three nieces, Crishyeona Coen, Jerrian Lawrimore and Nicole Fields; one nephew, Christopher Lawrimore and a host of cousins and friends.
Edward was baptized early in life and a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Chesapeake. He was a man who loved his family and friends and lived every moment with love and a passion for life. Edward enjoyed reading, singing, sports (Dallas Cowboys) and working with the youth. Edward was loved dearly and he made every person he met smile. He will be missed by so many.
Viewing will be held at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home located at 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 12:00 noon, services will follow in the Chapel at 1:00 pm. Condolences may be registered online at www.pretlowandsons.com.
