Norfolk - Edward Ernest Pritchard, 83, of the 800 block of Lasser Drive passed away peacefully on October 1, 2009, surrounded by his family. A native of Edwards, North Carolina, he was a long time resident of Norfolk, Va.

Before retiring from the City of Norfolk, Edward received an appreciation award for his dedicated service, and the outstanding civilian employee award of the 2 ^nd quarter in 1998 from the Norfolk Police Department.

He was predeceased by his parents, several siblings, and a daughter, Elaine. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 61 years, Edna of Norfolk; three daughters, Shirley Hamlett of New Jersey, Thelma Liverman of Norfolk, and Gwendolyn Pretlow of Chesapeake; five grandchildren; one brother, Elbert of North Carolina; six nephews, two nieces, a great niece, and a host of relatives and friends.
