Elder Patty McCoy Mills was born in Norfolk on January 18, 1954 and gained her wings on April 20, 2021 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Patty was passionate about serving the Lord. She received her Missionary Credentials and was ordained an Elder from the Board of Presbytery of the United Holy Church of America Christ.  In addition, she received her Certificate of Ordination as an Evangelist.  She became an Associate Minister at First Pentecostal United Holy Church, and later joined as an Associate Minister at Morning Star United Holy Church, where she enjoyed preaching and teaching weekly Bible Study until her demise.

A loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and an all-around outgoing person who touched everyone she came in contact with.  She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Katrice Langley and Nichole Langley Brooks; her bonus children, Akiah Sawyer (Dominic) Jennifer Mills, Johnnie Mills, Jr., Harry Nichols, Jr., and their father Johnnie Mills, Sr; her sisters, Margot Hassell Gunter (Tony Prentiss) and Willie Mae Coker; her brothers, Bishop Anias Hassell (Pastor Joann), Pastor John McCoy Hassell (Cheryl), Thomas Hassell and Rev. Joseph Hassell.  She also leaves her cherished memory to her grandchildren, Taliah, Tachela, Dominic, Jada, Jamarre, Javonte, Kaylin, Johnnie III, Jaeson, Tiona, Jordan, Jaidyn and Orion along with a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.  Patty was predeceased by her parents Missionary Margaret McCoy Hassell and Samuel Hassell; her brothers, Rev. Samuel Hill, Rev. Dr. Michael McCoy and Paul McCoy.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, April 24, 2021 at First Baptist Church Campostella., 1510 Conoga Street, Norfolk. Viewing will be held from 5pm until 7pm Friday, April 23, 2021 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Cesapeake.
