Elmira Christine Spence Boyce, given the ultimate gift of eternal life, on the same day of her birth she was called home on February 9, 2010. Now at peace, she departed us while residing at her home in Virginia Beach . She was a member of Advent Church of God in Christ.

Christine graduated from Norfolk State University , where she earned a B.S. in Sociology. She served as a Probation Officer with the Juvenile Domestic and Relations Court and was eventually promoted to Judicial Services Coordinator for the Department of Youth and Family Services. She left and returned as Volunteer Coordinator for "Friends of the Court" and Diagnostic Probation Officer for the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Ms. Boyce was predeceased by her parents, Superintendent Joe Rome Spence and Nettie Parker Spence. She is survived by 1 brother, Elder Joseph R. Spence and wife Paulette; 3 sisters, Shirley Spence Saunders and Lois Spence Walton and husband James, and Charlotte Richardson, one sister-in-law, Antoinette Spence, 14 nieces, 12 nephews, and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be truly missed by all whose hearts she touched and inspired.

A service will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, 118 Erie Avenue in Virginia Beach , VA. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park . Viewing will be held Friday from 3-7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake .
