On Sunday, July 1, 2012, God peacefully called our mother/grandmother, Ethel Oree home to rest. Mother Ethel Oree was born in Edgecomb County, North Carolina to the late Henry and Mary Whitfield. Mother Oree was a faithful member of First Pentecostal United Holy Church. She served as a Missionary, an Usher, and a Mother, on the Mother's Board. She was also a member of the Senior Choir. Preceding her death was her husband, Lloyd Oree and her beloved daughter, Sheila Oree. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Eric Oree (Jessica) of Norfolk, Virginia, granddaughter, Akira Oree, (who she raised) of Norfolk, Virginia, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one brother, Charlie Whitfield (Estelle) of Maryland, one sister, Aldine Whitfield of Norfolk, Virginia, a goddaughter, Mary A. Parker of Virginia Beach, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at First Pentecostal United Holy Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held Friday from 3-7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
