Obituary

Chesapeake - Eugenia Sawyer Bradley, 78, of the 1400 block of Orchard Groove, entered into eternal rest on Friday August 1, 2014. She was born in Old South Norfolk, Virginia. After serving over 30 years and retiring from the public sector of nursing, Eugenia continued private duty nursing, companion work, caring for her sick family members and helping to attend and care for ailing church elders.

Eugenia was a member of Hoods Chapel AMEZ Church and served on the Stewardess Board, Nursing Unit, and Deaconess Board.

She was predeceased by her parents, Alma H. and Nathaniel Sawyer, daughter, Alma Eure Bethea, and sister, Richetta Blount.

Left to cherish her memories forever are; her husband, James R. Bradley; sons, Nathaniel Bradley (Clarine) of Virginia Beach, Roosevelt Bradley (Lisa) of Chesapeake, and Minister William Eure (Beverly) of Norfolk; a daughter, Annette Newkirk (Doc) of Virginia Beach; a brother, Richard Sawyer (Philomena) of New Jersey; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; an aunt and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1pm Thursday at Hood Chapel AMEZ Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 2-5pm Wednesday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Condolences can be offed to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
