Chesapeake - Eunice T. Powell, 72 of the 2800 block of Halsey Street, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Norfolk General Hospital with her loving children by her side. She was born January 30, 1938 to the late Walter and Hattie Goodman. Eunice was a member of New Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, Chesapeake. She was a 1956 graduate of G.W.Carver High School, Chesapeake. She also attended C.U.N.Y at Baruch and Tidewater Community College. Eunice was employed as a Test Examiner for the Office of Personnel Management for a number of years and retired from Cox Enterprises as a Sr. Sales Representative.

She was preceded in death by her husband the late Frank M. Powell and a sister Betty G. Buffalow. Her precious memory will always remain with her loving children, Joey P. Powell, of Chesapeake and Sharon D. Powell of Atlanta, GA. Sisters, Mayrose Moon, Arlonia Taylor Johnson, Marchetta Smith and Veora (Hiawatha) Harding. Brothers, Walter L.Goodman and Col.(Ret.) Thaddious (Diainn)Goodman Sr. and a host of other close relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held, Monday May 24, 2010 at 12 noon at New Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, 1953 Campostella Rd. Chesapeake. Viewing will be held at the church Monday from 10 am – 12 pm. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in charge.
