Chesapeake - Evelyn T. Alexander, affectionately known as Maaw, Big Sis, and Aunt Evelyn, of the 200 block of Indian Creek Road, departed this life January 18, 2007, in Chesapeake General Hospital.



Evelyn is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Alonzo Alexander, Sr. She leaves to mourn her children, two sons, Thomas Alexander, Sr., and Alonzo Alexander, Jr., four daughters, Geraldine Butts, Gloria Dawson, Betty Alexander, and Rose Reid; one aunt, Nellie Barnette, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.



A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at noon at New Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 5375 Blackwater Loop, Virginia Beach, VA 23457. The Rev. Dr. Hubert H. Wilson, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. A wake service will be held Monday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
