Chesapeake - Evelyn H. Rivers, 68, of the 1000 block of Latham Street departed this life October 6, 2012. Born in Southampton County, she was an employee of the Tidewater Council Boy Scouts of America for 30 years until she retired in 2010. She was a faithful member and Deacon of Millneck Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Lawrence L. Rivers (Hermione) of Virginia Beach; one sister, Jane Brown (James) of Richmond; three brothers, Floyd Hill and Donald Hill (Anne) of Petersburg and Joseph Hill (Melvina) of Chesterfield County; two caregivers, Marjorie Sessoms of Suffolk and Ethel Thompson of Chesapeake, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held noon Wednesday at Millneck Baptist Church, 16314 Millneck Rd, Capron, VA 23829. Interment will follow at Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 3pm – 7pm Tuesday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
