Floyd A. Albritton, 85, passed away peacefully at home in Chesapeake, Virginia, on March 2, 2026.

Born in Norfolk County, Virginia, on May 26, 1940, to the late Nathaiel Albritton and Carrie Nixon Albritton, Floyd was known for his quiet personality and his deep love for family and friends. He dedicated many years of service to his community, eventually retiring from the City of Chesapeake Public Works Department.

Floyd was a loving husband to his late wife, Mildred M. Wilson Albritton. Together, they were a pillar of strength and support for their loved ones. A devoted father to his son, Stephen, Floyd offered constant love and guidance. He especially cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Kaila and Christian, and looked forward to visits from his nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Floyd’s legacy continues through his family. He is survived by his son Stephen L. Albritton, grandchildren Kaila L. Sparkman (Julian) and Christian G. Albritton, and great-grandson Jesse Sparkman. He also leaves behind his brother Melvin Albritton (Veronica), and sisters-in-law Addie Odom, Clydia Barnes, and Cherry Lee. His memory will be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Floyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred M. Albritton, his parents, Nathaiel and Carrie Albritton, and his brother, Clifton Albritton.

A funeral service will be held on March 26, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM at Pretlow & Sons Funeral Home, located at 500 Liberty Street in Chesapeake, Virginia. Viewing will be on March 25, 2026, from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home.
