Chesapeake – On April 23, 2014, Frank "Buddy" Johnson, Jr., peacefully departed this life on April 23, 2014. A native of Chesapeake, formerly of Hickory, VA, he was born August 5, 1948 to Dorothy Rawls Johnson and the late Frank Johnson, Sr.

He retired from Powell-McClelland Lumber Company after 40 years of service and recently retired from the city of Chesapeake. Buddy was a God filled man that gave from the kindness of his heart and always with a smile.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Johnson; two daughters, Latonya Walker and Indian Clanton; four sons, Stephen Johnson (Brandi), Johnny Johnson (Ashley), Derrick Johnson and Trenton Clanton; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy Rawls Johnson; two sisters, Catherine Baldwin (Herman), Marion Murphy, and Dianne Jones; two brothers, Ronald Johnson (Rosena) and Phillip Johnson; five aunts, one uncle and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Frank Johnson, Sr., and two brothers, Michael Johnson and Curtis Johnson, Sr.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon Tuesday at Olive Grove Baptist Church, 1034 Albert Ave., Norfolk, 23513. Burial will be in the Johnson Family Cemetery. Viewing will held from 3-7pm Monday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com. The family will meet at 827 Maltby Crescent, Norfolk, 23504 the day of the service for the processional to the church.
