Obituary

Chesapeake - Geniva Tremanie Brewer, 24, affectionately known as Geniva Truly Blessed Brewer, of the 700 block of Marcus Street was called home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2014 at Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk. Born in Chesapeake, she was a dedicated member of Gabriel Chapel AME Zion Church, where she sang in the Young Adult Choir, and served on the Youth Usher Board. She began at an early age being very active in church. She was a student at Everest College, where she received honors on the Dean's List and was awarded a Medical Assistance Degree in 2014.

She was predeceased by her father, Neal Bonnie Martin III and her grandmother, Florida J. Brewer . Survivors include her husband, Petty Officer 3 rd Class, Christopher Eaton; daughter, Ka'monee Miracle Na'Zaye Brewer; mother, Shannon Brewer; four sisters, Shantrese Brewer, Christina Brewer, Sheila Brewer, and Danica Brickhouse; two brothers, Davontae Brewer and Neal DeShawn Martin.; grandfather, John Brewer ; Godmother, Gwendolyn Nixon-Wilson; six aunts, five uncles, eleven nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

A home going service will be held 1pm Tuesday at Gabriel Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 2216 Long Ridge Road, Chesapeake with Rev. Alphonso Griffin, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow at St Luke Church Cemetery. Viewing will be held Monday from 3-7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
