IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerardo B.
Gonzales
November 11, 1964 – September 7, 2025
Gerardo B. Gonzales — a loving husband, loyal friend, dedicated worker, passionate traveler, and devoted Catholic — was tragically taken from us at the age of sixty in Norfolk, Virginia. His wife, Lea, was officially informed by the U.S. Navy Reservists and police authorities, in accordance with the U.S. Navy protocols.
Affectionately known to his family and friends as "Gerry," he will forever live on in our hearts. Born in Manila, Philippines, Gerry's Filipino roots were a vital part of his identity. After relocating to the U.S. in 1992, he embraced American life with deep patriotism — devoted both to the flag and to his work.
Gerry proudly served for 23 years in the U.S. Navy (MSC) as a Deck Engineer Machinist, a career that demanded great sacrifice and long periods away from loved ones. He was deployed to numerous countries around the world, yet his commitment to his colleagues and country never wavered.
He approached life with enthusiasm, finding joy in hobbies such as swimming, hunting — earning the nickname "the Elkslayer" after claiming three elk heads — and traveling. His adventures spanned the Philippines, the United States, and beyond, always with his beloved wife by his side. Gerry delighted in discovering new places, tasting diverse cuisines, and capturing memories to share with those he loved. A true people person, he loved to talk and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
After moving to Henderson, Nevada in January 2023, Gerry found renewed spiritual connection at St. Thomas More Church, where he always sought a personal blessing before deployment. He integrated into the community, which brought him immense joy. He was a man full of dreams, humor, and unwavering loyalty — always planning for a future beyond retirement, which was just two years away.
Gerry's legacy is one of conviction, love, and a zest for life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florencio Gonzales and Teodora Bantigue, and his older brother Benjie Gonzales.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lea Y. Gonzales, who remains surrounded by the love and memories they built together.
