Gervan Lee Deaton, III, affectionately known as "Butch," entered eternal rest rest on November 22, 2022. He was born December 22, 1943, in Norfolk, Virginia.

Gervan was preceded in death by his father Gervan Lee Deaton Jr, his mother Viola Marie Deaton, and his brother Brian Deaton.

Gervan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and dear friend, who filled our lives with so much joy and love. We shall miss Butch dearly, but his memory will live on in our hearts forever.

Gervan leaves to cherish his loving memory, his devoted wife of over 25 years, Acquanetta Deaton, daughter Viola Benjamin, stepdaughter Tracey Muff, brother William Deaton, sisters Ruby Patterson, Leola Hubbard, Margaret Rodgers, and Vanessa Backus, granddaughter, Mackenzie Grace Muff, a brother-law, and a host of sisters-in-law, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake, where viewing will be Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 5pm until 7 pm.
