Chesapeake - Gladys M. Gray, 94, began her eternal life on June 28,2015. She was born in Smithfield, Virginia to the late Susie Diggs Curney. She was predeceased by her loving husband Sherman W. Gray of 16 years and son Demetrious W. Gray.
Gladys was a woman that wore many professional hats: beautician, welder and seamstress. Later on in life, she found her purpose in helping others and became a nurse at DePaul Hospital where she later retired after 26 years of dedicated service.
A caring, nurturing and loving mother to her 3 daughters: Dolores G. Thomas , Sylvia M. Douglas and Denise J. Smith. She also leaves to cherish several siblings, a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The viewing for our beloved mother is July 2, 2015 from 3-8 pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where the family will meet-and-greet friends from 6-8pm.The home going celebration will take place July 3, 2015, noon at Bethany Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Interment will be held 12 noon Monday, July 6, 2015 at Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery, 1150 Emmanuel Church Road, Smithfield, Virginia.Condolences can be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
