Chesapeake - Gloria Walter Brown, 84, of the 500 block of Providence Road and formerly of 402 Dwight Drive, Portsmouth passed away February 13, 2007. Born in Norfolk, she was a former employee of Norfolk State University. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah?s Witnesses, Indian River Congregation and a former member of the Greenwood Congregation. She was also a former member of the Women's Auxiliary Fleet Reserve Association of Portsmouth.
She was predeceased by her husband, Columbus Brown, and her parents Walter and Mary Banks. Survivors include two daughters, Jamesina B. Whitehurst (Randolph) and Felecia B. Savage (John, Jr.) all of Chesapeake; two sons, Jonathan N. Brown of Rochester, Michigan, and Marvin M. Brown (Pamela) of Sterling, Virginia; six grandchildren, Marc S. Whitehurst, US Marine Corps (Stephanie) of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Ryan and Justin Brown of Rochester, Michigan, Monique and Marquis Brown of Sterling, Virginia and Jonoven R. Savage of Chesapeake; one great grandchild, Davehoun M. Whitehurst of Dothan, Alabama, and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah?s Witnesses, 681 Oak Grove Road, Chesapeake. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held Sunday from12pm until 5pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where the family will receive friends from 3pm until 5pm.
